About Finlays

We are a global company focused upon growing and manufacturing tea and flowers in East Africa, Sri Lanka and China. Passionate about what we do, and how we do it, we have acquired the sort of knowledge and expertise which, we believe is second to none. In addition to producing tea extracts and packaged tea, Finlays is one of the world’s largest tea trading companies. We have also diversified into temperature-controlled logistics, agency services and parts distribution services in both Sri Lanka and the USA.

Specific products and services include:

  • Tea estates in Sri Lanka, Kenya and Uganda, growing and manufacturing over 45m kilos of black and green teas every year
  • Providing sourcing and blending services to a global client base through our tea trading offices in the UK, Kenya, Dubai, Malawi, Vietnam and the USA
  • UK decaffeination facilities, creating a range of decaffeinated products for customers in Europe and the USA
  • Sourcing and packaging tea and coffee for large retail multiples in Japan and Europe from our state of the art facilities in the UK and Sri Lanka
  • Growing over 100million stems of cut flowers, principally roses, carnations and lilies, from our three flower farms in Kenya and our new farm in China and then supplying them to markets in Europe, the USA and Japan.

We employ over 40,000 people, many of whom reside on our tea estates and flower farms in Sri Lanka and Africa and for whom we provide housing, schooling and medical facilities. We are very serious about our responsibilities towards our people and their communities as well as the local and global environment. Our flower farms and many of our tea estates are Fair Trade accredited. However, while operating to high ethical and environmental standards and audited by numerous external audit bodies, we recognise that the environmental and social situation is never a constant and are committed to continually looking for ways to improve our performance.
