Sustainable Development

The Flamingo group employs over 10,000 people globally, and has a major obligation to promote a robust sustainable development policy throughout its operations. Typical of this is Homegrown in Kenya. Over 9,000 people are employed in the Kenya operations and they enjoy some of the highest standards of remuneration and worker welfare in the Kenyan economy.

Flamingo is at the forefront of environmentally sustainable farming practices and has adopted integrated pest management as a key aspect of its growing technology together with closed loop hydroponic cultivation as a means to maximize water and fertilizer application efficiency and minimise use.

All production and processing is accredited to Fairtrade standards and every farm is  Kenya Flower Council Gold Standard and Globalgap certified as well as being compliant with other relevant National, International and Customer standards.
